Pierre Andre' was already a legendary Freestyle and Slalom competitor in Europe, prior to moving from Paris, France to Huntington Beach, California around 1986. Pierre came to America to enter US Freestyle contests for several years. He frequently competed in the NSA Pro Freestyle events of the 80's and often placed 2nd or 3rd in many events. He was sponsored by Sims and Vision Street Wear, as well as other sponsors of the 80's. For years, we used to practice Freestyle at Sadlands, or the Huntington Beach pier with other Freestyle friends, such as: Don Brown, Fabian Kravitz, Hans Lindgren, Russ Howell, George Douville, Stefan Johannsen and many others. Pierre used his College education to open a warehouse distributing a shoe called "Etnies", which means "tribe" in French. Don Brown joined Pierre's business and still works with him today. As the years went by, several shoe companies wanted to buy Pierre's little shoe company, but he wanted to ensure that his shoes would not be sold in the mainstream and therefore remain in the shops that supported skateboarding. His business later grew up to become Sole Technologies, the largest multi-million dollar shoe and clothing company in the skate industry. Pierre's shoes continue to dominate today! - Lynn Cooper
